The German painter and graphic artist Ludwig Richter dedicated especially the second period of his works exclusively to drawings of literary and popular motifs for graphic reproduction, which made him widely known. He illustrated books such as the “German Fairytale Collection” of Ludwig Bechstein, the poet, philologist and ethnograph from Thuringia. Ludwig Richter also created folkloristic writings of his own.
